Project management in a research and development environment is unique. While project management benefits from years of practical experience in many industry sectors, changes in emphasis and results for R&D projects make project management in research and development projects unique. A research-based project management framework must be compatible with a number of best practices and standards that continue to evolve outside of the realm of research and development as well as satisfy the research specific needs such as publish scientific papers, protect integrity data and privacy.
A research-based project management framework must also be extended to include work that is critical in an R&D environment Research and Ethics In-Kind Management Scientific Meetings and Publications Privacy and Security
