The delineation of CBRNE threats; specifically Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs); into domestic and international is a false one. While IEDs may be more of a visible problem in troubled areas like Afghanistan and Iraq, they are silent sources of domestic threats. The mobility of training programs, techniques and materials means that initiatives originally intended for the ‘front-line’ can easily find their way to become domestic threats (e.g. London & Madrid bombings). Aligning military & civilian (domestic police) sources of intelligence, something that currently is not being shared easily will vastly improve counter-terrorism efforts.
AMITA is involved with aligning both domestic and military sources of information of CBRNE threats which enables the secure recording and sharing of critical incident data amongst all partners - military, civilian, Canadian or international.
