The work of law enforcement organizations and first
responders in responding to everyday incidents is
already challenging enough. Add in a precarious
situation like a CBRNE (Chemical. Biological, Radiological,
Nuclear and Explosives) incident and the job becomes
that much tougher. A CBRNE incident challenges law
enforcement organizations and first responders to
improve on the level of internal preparedness to
better respond and prevent such CBRNE threats and
to be able to communicate and share information
in real-time across agencies and departments. Interoperability
in an emergency situation is paramount to responding
and handling a situation properly; law enforcement
organizations and first responders need to effectively
share information with others in a timely fashion.
AMITA has a focus on enhancing the ability for law
enforcement agencies/first responders to prepare,
prevent and respond to CBRNE threats. Areas of expertise
include interoperability of response agencies, CBRNE
incident databases, mass casualty management, and
CBRNE crime scene management methodology.
